The Morning After

Last night my husband and I went out clubbing with my daughter, her husband and a few of their friends. It had been years since we had gone out to the clubs, but the kids wanted us to go and I have to say we had a great time with all of them. We bonded with them in a new way and we learned alot about all of them and they learned about us. It was great watching my daughter and her friends dance and look out for each other. We laughed alot about a lot of silly things We had our DD(designated driver, my honey) so that we were safe and so was everyone else. I don't advocate going out and partying all the time, but it is a part of our culture, so if we are going to partake then we need to do so responsibly, everyone has a right to live. Okay, enough of my soap box. The whole reason I even wanted to write about last night is because of what it did for our relationship with our kids and their friends. It formed a bond and a new area of trust in our lives. Everyone was really themselves, open about alot of subjects and not afraid to show how they really cared for each other and this was all taking place before....they planned the evening, got ready together and even when they had to go to the girls room they went together, no one was ever alone and with young women out that is a good thing. Yes, they had their husbands or boyfriends but there are places they can't go and the girls had that covered for each other. A few years ago the thought of going into a club or my kids going into a club was really tabu, but I have learned alot about freedom and about relationships in the last couple of years and after hanging with them I can say I am not against it at all for them, some people I think should stay away from the clubs but that is a whole other blogging session. The group that we were with were out to listen to the music, dance, talk and generally just enjoy being together. We are already planning to do it again. We are also planning just a girls night out. I have to say I am looking forward to it. It was a great feeling for a parent to know that their kids wanted to hang out with them and that they aren't embarrassed by them, because we know alot of situations that aren't like that, and it's sad.

Saturday

I finally finished several pieces of homework for my classes and now it is time to unwind a bit. I am learning to use different pieces of technology due to my online class, so by the time I finish this semester I should be able to keep up with my kids (haha). It's a good dream anyway. I still have some homework to do this weekend but I will start fresh tomorrow and thank God for three day week-ends, especially at the beginning of a semester. I am not as overwhelmed as I thought I would be, which is a really good thing.

My husband and I are going out with our daughter and her husband and some of their friends this evening, this should be an interesting and fun night. My olders daughter is going to hangout with our granddaughter and our son and then we will all hang out together tomorrow: cooking breakfast, playing cards or watching a good movie.
